The 2008 Kokua Festival was a huge success. Everyone enjoyed the sensational music and activities. The Kokua Booth Village was a buzz with people learning and sharing the latest ideas in how to be green. We are especially excited about the interest and participation our attendees and fans took in all our greening measures, especially with the Earthday Resolutions and Kokua Festival Passports. Fans that weren't able to be inside the venue, still had the opportunity to hear the music from the surrounding park and make their Earthday Resolutions as well. Keep an eye on the Kokua Hawaii Foundation website to gage the impact we made together.

Offset Your Travel To Kokua Festival
April 2, 2008A big mahalo to everyone who purchased $2 offset credits with their 2008 Kokua Festival tickets! For those of you coming to the show from outside Hawaii, this covers just a small portion of the carbon emissions that will be generated by your travel. Evolution Sage, the Kokua Festival’s carbon offset partner, has created an online emissions calculator to help you tally the remainder of your travel emissions and purchase offset credits to make your trip to Kokua Festival carbon-neutral. MAHALO BEACH CLEANERS!
February 22, 2008The Kokua Festival STAR 101.9 Beach Clean ups were a huge success. We had 460 participants at the Sand Island event on the South Shore and 400 participants at the Malaekahana event on the North Shore. Wow! Thanks to all the amazing people who decided to come down and make a difference on two of Oahu's beaches, a tremendous amount of trash was collected.

Hawaii’s own Jack Johnson is proud to share the stage with Dave Matthews at the Fifth Annual Kokua Festival on Earth Day weekend – April 19th and 20th, 2008 – at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii. For his first Hawaii appearance ever, Dave Matthews will be performing an acoustic set with guitar master Tim Reynolds. The festival’s incredible music line-up will be rounded out with local island favorites Paula Fuga and Go Jimmy Go, and Brushfire Records’ latest addition, the Hawaii-born, Minneapolis-based Mason Jennings.

Another great year of Kokua Festival has come and gone! The 2007 Festival was the most memorable year yet on many levels, but one of the most important to us was the success of the environmental initiatives put into place at this year’s event. Thanks to the efforts of those of you in attendance at the show(s), we are proud to announce that the 2007 Kokua Festival was deemed by Waikiki Shell staff as the “cleanest” event that’s ever taken place there. A huge MAHALO to all for this wonderful accomplishment!
